Our fun improv drop-in sessions for all levels mixed are returning this summer 2025!
Come and play improv every Tuesday in July and August, 19-21h, whether you are totally new or experienced. In a group of friendly people we play games, scenes, and learn new skills!
We often start with a warmup in the park and end with a drink in the park's outdoor bar.
The main part of the session takes place in the Aktionsraum of the QZ Bäckeranlage.
These are drop-in sessions so you can freely choose when and how often to attend - just buy the pass that is right for you!
The sessions are led by Storylabor coaches Bernie, JC, Dan, Adri, Mary, and Zora.
Meeting point is at 7pm sharp in the Aktionsraum, 1st floor (upstairs via external stairs!), QZ Bäckeranlage, in the park.

Next Taster Session Improv

A fun and playful taster session for newbies in a supportive & playful atmosphere. After some group warmups we will play improv games.
Perfect as an intro to the Level 1 course, which starts one week later!
Level 1 - Basics of Improv (Improv Elementary)
7x Tuesdays, 19.00 - 21.15h

Location: Pavillon Building of the GZ Buchegg, Bucheggplatz, Zurich
Teacher: JC & Bernie
No previous experience required.
This class covers the basics of improv and is all about playful discovery and supporting each other.
Perfect if you want to give improv a go and have fun, develop self-confidence, teamwork and creativity.
Get to know a group of like-minded friendly beginners.
You will learn and practise:
creativity & playfulness
confidence on stage
emotional intelligence in a scenic relationship
build solid beginnings to good improv scenes
successfully develop an idea with a partner
simple short form improv games, as seen in Theatersports shows
Upon completion of this class you can continue with Level 2.
Course fee: 380 CHF

Level 2 - The Impro Scene (Improv Intermediate)
7x Thursdays, 19.00 - 21.15 h
8th May - 26th June (no class 29th May)

Showcase: 5th July
For people with some previous improv theatre experience.
Here we specifically work on the dynamics of the improv scene.
We review and practise the building blocks of a successful scene and how to support each other.
Students can participate in a public show at the end - take the fun to a new level!

Long Form Improv (Improv High)
7x Mondays, 19.00 - 21.00 h

Location: QR Bullinger, Bullingerstr. 8, Zurich

Showcase: 5th July
This class is for people who have been playing improv for some time (at least 5-6 months of regular practice).
We explore premise-based long form improvised storytelling, ie. comedic ideas pulled from an input.
Course fee: 360 CHF
Students/Kulturlegi: 240 CHF
About our classes / Terms & Conditions
Our students are mostly non-native English speakers.
You don’t need to be “funny” (but you may discover that you actually are…). Improv is a team activity where all kinds of personal qualities complement each other.
Average class size is 8-14 people. Regular attendance is encouraged to improve learning and group cohesion.
You can skip single sessions, but as a rule of thumb, you should be able to attend at least 75% of a course.
No discounts for partial attendance.
If a class does not reach the minimum participant number, it will be cancelled and you will be refunded.
Refunds due to illness require a medical certificate.
